The European Commission (DG Justice) generously provided translations into the official languages of the European Union, with the exception of English, French and Spanish, which had already been produced by the HCCH.

The Convention will enter into force for Norway on 1 July 2016.

On 26 September 2012, Sweden deposited its instrument of ratification of the Hague Convention of 19 October 1996 on Jurisdiction, Applicable Law, Recognition, Enforcement and Co-operation in Respect of Parental Responsibility and Measures for the Protection of Children. The instrument was accompanied by a reservation.
The Convention will, in accordance with its Article 61(2)(a), enter into force for Sweden on 1 January 2013. With the exception of Belgium and Italy, all EU Member States are now Parties to the 1996 Convention.

On 14 February 2012, the depositary received the instrument of accession of Montenegro to the Hague Convention of 19 October 1996 on jurisdiction, applicable law, recognition, enforcement and co-operation in respect of parental responsibility and measures for the protection of children. The instrument of accession was accompanied by the designation of authorities, reservations and a declaration.
Montenegro has thus become the 35th Contracting State to the 1996 Convention, which will enter into force for Montenegro on 1 January 2013.
